Lessons from a successful company: 19 years of Microsip del Sureste

“Companies are not buildings, nor furniture, nor computers; they are the people who work in them,” says our CEO.
Through this philosophy, Microsip del Sureste has reached 19 years victoriously, without tricks or secrets. There is no formula for success, but definitely throughout all these years we have learned certain lessons that have been key in our path to boost Mexican companies through software; however, today we would like to do it through our words.
Every great company begins with a dream and a tremendous desire to make it a reality. In a small house with only a desk, a telephone and a computer that connected to the Internet twice a day to download emails, the dream of Microsip del Sureste was born. What was the next step? Knocking on doors and starting to sell. There is no magic solution other than focus and perseverance, which is a matter of every day.
Success is built and requires time, effort and especially resilience, because the road is definitely not easy. Yes, you will make mistakes, but the important thing is to get up and keep going. You will be told no many times, the door will be slammed in your face, you will be advised to do something else; but you should never lose focus, much less the desire to continue. Don't let your passion fade and when that happens, revive it with discipline and remember your vision: where do you see yourself in the future? Declare it and live it daily; an intelligent vision is key.
Do you think it was easy to sell software in the early days? If today there is a certain ignorance about the importance of administrative systems, imagine 19 years ago. If we had given up because things got tough, today the story would be very different, but we had vision.
Don't give up! Move! Take risks! Look for alternatives, develop your persuasion, soak up learning and read a lot. Learn to sell, because that will always be the main challenge and the determinant of your success.
Microsip del Sureste's first sale was not a momentous event; on the contrary, it was followed by a "it's about time... well, who's next?" Don't get wrapped up in your successes, always keep your eyes on the next move and once you're on track in sales, focus on the processes, that's right, the methodology and the business model. At the beginning you needed a lot of energy, drive, strength, growth, entrepreneurial spirit; after a while those characteristics are no longer enough, there comes a point where the most important thing becomes good management and control, the ability to establish and follow rules, order and processes. Leadership is transformed and the importance of taking responsibility and making better decisions comes into play. The leader's job is not to sit down and count money, it's to decide and that implies listening and having intuition.
The leader must make good decisions based on ethics and values, not only for the financial health of his company, but for the well-being of all the people involved; both employees and customers. The process of selling a product or service is a chain made up of many links (people), all equally important, all with needs. Systemic thinking and a professional organizational culture that really cares about doing its part well is what determines true success, not money. Feeling part of something bigger than oneself, belonging to something good. A company of people for people, not a simple building.
This is the essence of Microsip del Sureste, which has brought us 19 years of success. Success in having created a network of people committed to the same vision: to serve. Success in being generators and distributors of wealth. Success in having turned a dream into reality, a dream that belongs to all of us who are part of Microsip del Sureste and to which we contribute daily. Microsip is ours, it is yours. Success belongs to everyone.
Congratulations!
